ENTRE News – Russian military forces claim to have captured a village in southern Ukraine. The occupation of this region was successful after the Ukrainian army increasingly ran short of troops and ammunition.
“Units of the eastern troops have liberated the Zagrine settlement in the Zaporizhzhia region and occupied a more advantageous position,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in its daily report, quoted by AFP FOR4D.
Russian troops have controlled territory for months in Ukraine, especially in the east. However, they have not yet achieved significant progress. Earlier this week, they announced the seizure of three villages in eastern, southeastern and northeastern Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week his forces had conquered nearly 880 square kilometers of territory since the start of the year. Russia also launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region on May 10. They had captured some territory before any reinforcements were sent by Ukraine.
