ENTRE News – Egypt said it had been asked by Iran to avoid Tehran’s airspace for two days due to military exercises. The Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation said that the Iranian authorities informed them that on Wednesday from 11.30-14.30 and Thursday from 04.30-07.30 Tehran time there would be military exercises so Cairo was asked to stay away from Tehran’s airspace.
Iran has not made an official announcement regarding military exercises at that time. This information was shared in a release from the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation on Wednesday. News of this military exercise emerged when Iran was said to be preparing to retaliate against Israel for the assassination of Hamas political bureau leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in the early hours of July 31.
Haniyeh died at his place of stay in the capital Tehran after attending the inauguration of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian the day before on July 30. Hamas and Iran accused Israel of being behind Haniyeh’s murder. Israel has so far remained silent about these accusations.
Iran also vowed to severely punish Israel for the killings that occurred on its territory. A number of parties are worried that a war will break out between Iran and Israel in the near future. After Haniyeh’s assassination, Iran immediately summoned all its “Resistance Axis” proxies to discuss the issue.
Apart from Haniyeh, the highest commander of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, Fuad Shukr, was also killed a few hours earlier on July 30. He was attacked by Israel in the capital city of Beirut, Lebanon, because he was accused of being the mastermind of the attack on the Golan Heights which killed 12 people on July 27. The leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, has also vowed to avenge the Zionist State for Shukr’s death. He said Israel had crossed the “red line” and was waging war on all fronts.
