iPhone Flashback from Time to Time

ENTRE News – The iPhone redefined the term “mobile phone.” Apple’s trademark products revolutionized the mobile phone industry, moving from flip phones and keyboards to large screens and powerful cameras. With a reported 1.2 billion units sold, the iPhone is arguably the world’s most popular technology device. Most recently, Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 on Tuesday which is packed with new features such as a USB-C charging port, new colors and better battery performance. Here’s a look back at the iPhone series from time to time:

1. 2007: iPhone

The release of the first-ever iPhone, a highly anticipated device that combined an iPod, a telephone, and what CEO Steve Jobs called an “internet communicator.”

2. 2008: iPhone 3G

Along with the launch of the second version of the iPhone, Apple introduced the App Store and 3G connectivity. The new device, half the cost of the original iPhone, sold more than 3 million in a month, far outstripping its predecessor.

3. 2009: iPhone 3GS

The iPhone 3GS introduced the ability to record video, as well as basic voice controls. The first “S” update to the iPhone also added system storage, offering users an upgraded 32GB.

4. 2010: iPhone 4

The total update made the iPhone 4 a hit and a hit in its day: thinner and sleeker with a better battery, camera and screen. The iPhone 4 is starting to resemble the phones that are widely used today. With the addition of a front camera, it allows users to take selfies and FaceTime calls.

“I grew up with the Jetsons dreaming about video phones,” Jobs said at the announcement.

5. 2011: iPhone 4S

6. 2012: iPhone 5

The iPhone 5 comes with a Lightning cable, a shift from the larger charging port used in Apple’s original iPhone and iPod. The iPhone 5 also gets a larger screen and LTE FOR4D connectivity, making the phone much faster than its predecessor.

7. 2013: iPhone 5C

Apple released the iPhone 5C which comes in full color. iPhone 5C hits the market as a low-cost alternative to the 5S series. The phone is available in green, blue, pink, yellow and white. However, the iPhone 5C was short-lived after Apple discontinued the product a few years later.

8. 2014: iPhone 6/6Plus

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched in 2014. The iPhone 6 Plus was the first ‘Plus’ option on an Apple device, offering a phone that was much taller and thinner, but also prone to bending. Users have complained about the ‘curvy’ iPhone body on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

9. 2015: iPhone 6S/6SPlus

Apple released the 6S and 6S Plus in a “rose gold” color option, as well as adding new features such as 3D touch and twice the memory capacity. Plus, the bending issue is fixed.

10. 2016: iPhone SE

The iPhone SE is a cheaper and smaller device than the 6S. The arrival of the iPhone SE gives customers the opportunity to enjoy an Apple phone at a much lower cost.

11. 2016: iPhone 7/7Plus

Apple removed the traditional headphone jack with the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This forces customers to buy new airpods adapting the old headset. The iPhone 7 is also the first waterproof iPhone. The phone also features a more static home button that cannot be pressed, only touched, and the first dual camera lens with portrait mode.

12. 2017: iPhone 8/8Plus

There was no iPhone 7S, Apple immediately released the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. This is the first iPhone to support wireless charging.

13. 2017: iPhone

The iPhone The additional lens also adds portrait mode to the front-facing camera, a fan favorite for the upcoming iPhone.

14. 2018: iPhone XS/XSMax

After a major physical overhaul with the iPhone X, Apple released the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max largely unchanged aside from internal hardware updates. The display is also edge-to-edge, maximizing available screen space.

15. 2018: iPhone XR

The iPhone XR is smaller and cheaper than the iPhone XS and XS Max. Even so, this device is still bigger than the 8 Plus. And even though it is only equipped with one rear camera lens, this cellphone is available in six colors including blue, yellow and red.

16. 2019: iPhone 11 Series

The iPhone 11 comes with six colors to choose from, as well as better dual camera capabilities with an ultra-wide lens option. When it was first launched, the iPhone 11 started at US$699 (Rp. 10.7 million), making it one of Apple’s cheap core phones. Meanwhile, the 11 Pro and Pro Max boast a triple-lens camera and Apple’s most advanced retina display to date.

17. 2020: iPhone SE

Apple shrank its phone to release the second generation SE, complete with a retro home button. Despite its lower cost, the SE is equipped with some of Apple’s most striking features such as an advanced camera and wireless charging.

18. 2020: iPhone 12 Mini

The iPhone 12 mini is smaller than a regular iPhone but packs a powerful punch. With all the features enjoyed by the iPhone 12 minus a bit of size and battery life, the mini gives people everything they want while taking up less space in their pockets.

19. 2020: iPhone 12 Series

With the iPhone 12 series, Apple continues to improve the camera and screen, plus introduces its own MagSafe charging option. The iPhone 12 has two camera lenses while the Pro and Pro Max have three plus night mode and an increased zoom range. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro are the same size, while the Pro Max is significantly larger. Series 12 marks the sale of iPhones without a charger in the box.

20. 2021: iPhone 13 Series

The iPhone 13 remains the same price as the iPhone 12 with twice the storage space, as well as featuring a much smaller top notch. This phone has much better battery life and camera features than the previous generation.

21. 2022: iPhone SE 3rd gen

Apple has released the iPhone SE series again, but better than before. While it still has a home button and Touch ID, the phone gets many of the same features seen on higher-end iPhones: portrait mode, HD video, long battery life, and so on.

22. 2022: iPhone 14

With the iPhone 14, Apple got rid of the iPhone Mini for the Pro. Apple brought back the larger Pro, as well as adding a ton of safety features like Emergency SOS via satellite. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature a new, “Dynamic Island” feature that floats free from the top of the phone to better integrate into whatever’s happening on the screen, as well as a better camera and display. The physical SIM card tray is also gone with the 14, pushing users towards eSIM.

23. 2023: iPhone 15

Apple officially launched their newest series of cellphones, the iPhone 15 at the “Wonderlust” event, Tuesday (12/9). Even though at first glance it looks similar to its predecessor cellphone, the iPhone 15 has a number of new features. Apple has finally answered the iPhone 15 specification rumors out there. One of the newest features on this premium cellphone is the USB-C plug.
