ENTRE News – The conflict between Iran and Israel prompted the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN Secretary General) Antonio Guterres to issue a warning. He said the conflict had left the Middle East on the verge of collapse.
Guterres warned the international community not to get further involved in the conflict between Iran and Israel. “Neither the region nor the world can afford more war,” Guterres said while addressing the Security Council at a meeting on Iran’s attacks on Israel.
“The Middle East is on the verge of collapse,” he continued.
Guterres said people in both regions faced real danger. Now, Guterres said, is the time to defuse tensions FOR4D.
“The people of the region face the real danger of a full-scale, devastating conflict. Now is the time to de-escalate and reduce tensions,” he added, calling for the greatest possible restraint.
On Saturday (13/4) evening, Iran launched a direct attack on its old enemy, Israel. For the first time, Iran fired more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel. Almost all of them were intercepted by Israel and other countries, including the United States, Jordan and the United Kingdom.
According to the Israeli army, 12 people were injured. Iran said its attack came in response to a deadly April 1 airstrike ZONAGAMING77 on Tehran’s consulate building in the Syrian capital Damascus, which was widely blamed on Israel. The attack killed seven Iranian Revolutionary Guards, including two senior generals, and sparked threats of Iranian retaliation.
