ENTRE News – Iraqi TikTok celebrity Ghufran Sawadi alias Umm Fahad died after being shot dead in the yard of his house in the capital city of Baghdad on Friday (26/4). The shooting took place in the Zayouna area east of Baghdad and was captured on CCTV which later went viral on social media.
The video shows an armed man riding a motorbike suddenly stopping in front of Umm Fahad’s house and shooting and killing the woman on the spot. Baghdad police sources confirmed the authenticity of the video.
Iraq’s Interior Minister announced it had “formed a special working team to find out the causes of the murder of a woman identified on social media by unknown assailants.” Umm Fahad often uploads videos of herself dancing to pop music on TikTok FOR4D. Umm Fahad’s video was once caught up in law because it was deemed inappropriate by an Iraqi court.
The woman was sentenced to six months in prison. An Iraqi court at the time said Umm Fahad had committed “the crime of producing and publishing several films and videos containing obscene and indecent language, violating public decency and morals.”
Apart from Umm Fahad FOR4D, a number of TikTok celebrities and other social media influencers in the country have also been targets of violence and even murder. The woman was sentenced to six months in prison. An Iraqi court at the time said Umm Fahad had committed “the crime of producing and publishing several films and videos containing obscene and indecent language, violating public decency and morals.”
