ENTRE News – Russian President Vladimir Putin once again condemned Israel’s brutal aggression against the Palestinian Gaza Strip which has been going on for exactly eight months on Thursday (6/6). In a press conference before foreign media in St Petersburg, Putin said what was happening in Gaza was not a war, but “the complete destruction of the civilian population”.
“What is happening now in Gaza in response to terrorist attacks against Israel does not resemble war. This is a kind of total extermination of the civilian population,” Putin said as quoted by AFP.
On that occasion, Putin also said that the Kremlin was ready to help resolve the crisis in Gaza. He believes that peace cannot be achieved without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. So far, Putin has been one of the major countries that has been vocal in condemning Israel’s brutal aggression against Gaza.
In a video link broadcast to his cabinet in February, Putin said Russia had a moral obligation to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people in Gaza. He spoke like this after admitting he had seen various videos of Palestinian children undergoing surgery without anesthesia.
Russia’s number one said the deaths of thousands of people, the mass displacement of civilians and the humanitarian tragedy occurring in Gaza had caused “deep concern.”
“When you see how children are operated on without anesthesia, it clearly evokes very deep feelings,” he told the meeting FOR4D.
He also said that Moscow would seek a humanitarian ceasefire as its main short-term task so that we could immediately see lasting peace in the Gaza Strip. A total of 36,586 Palestinians were killed and 83,074 others were injured as a result of Israel’s brutal aggression against Gaza since October 7 2023. Most of the victims killed were children and women.
